I am 48 years old. Studies tell us people aged 45-55 have the lowest average life satisfaction.
This is due to being squeezed between caring for aging parents & your teenaged kids making big decisions.
This is also the time where you might realize your career or bank account might not reach the heights you had expected.
I’m lucky. My parents are mid-70's and doing great. My kids are teens and, while not stress free, are generally doing great.
My career still holds potential. The bills get paid. Importantly, I remain largely in control of the direction it will take.
When I step out of the day-to-day stress & take a step back, there is a lot of good going on. This doesn't mean everything is perfect (far from it), but a little perspective goes a long way.
I am enjoying my life right now. I enjoy the responsibility that comes with being in the middle.
If it only gets better from here, I can't wait.
